Duty Free find: Dior Color Designer All-in-One Makeup Palette

Those who travel a lot and like to spend their free time in the duty free shops in airports must have seen this before: Dior Color Designer All-in-one Makeup Palette.
I must have seen practically each and every travel palettes available in Eurpoean airports yet I check the duty frees every time I have some spare time before the next boarding, hoping to find something new and special that calls out to me.

Excuse the lowly photos and say hello to fingerprints-magnet case.

Let's see what is included:

- concealer (Light Beige)
- Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Powder Makeup (032 Sable Rosé - SPF10 PA++)
- Diorblush (830 Rose Dragée)
- eyeshadows (colors: 501, 689, 836, 959)
- Diorshow Extase mascara (black)
- mini eyeliner pencil (black)
- mini eyebrow pencil (453 Sand)
- Dior Addict Lip Maximizer (high volume lip plumper in color 010 Pink)
-  Dior Addict Ultra Gloss (270 and 680)
- mini sponge
- mini brush
- double ended sponge applicator for eyeshadow
- double ended brush applicator for gloss

Check  the sawtches of concealer, powder, blush, eyeliner, eyebrow pencil and eyeshadows in different lightings:

The concealer works well covering minor dark circles or pimples, has a light reflecting effect. But don't expect heavy coverage. It's included as a life-saver.

The powder foundation is lovely. Velvety texture, light to medium coverage. The color is chosen so it wouldn't be off on either warm or cool toned fair girls. (Those with strongly warm and olive undertones should have a light hand when applying to see how much you can wear without looking silly)

The blush is a really sweet color and the eyeshadows are great too if you like shimmery eyeshadows.
Out of the 5 shadows the only one I don't use is the middle one. It's too warm for my liking.

The glosses.
They are such a let down! The lip-plumper would be 5/5 if it had any color. To name it 'pink' is a serious crime! It's a clear gloss! Which actually gives a nice "burning" sensation like all lipplumpers do. I'm not sure if it makes my lips look bigger....it's not like they become sausages from a thin line when I use this Lip Maximizer....

Click to look for color
All 3 colors are swatched twice

The other glosses....the middle one has almost no color and the lower one is the only one with actual color which would be great had it looked complimenting on me. But it looks horrid :(

The Diorshow Extase will be reviewed later.

This travel palette sells for around 60 EUR. I got mine for 59. Price depends on which airport you happen to buy it.
I think it's a good price for a bunch of makeup essential for an everyday look. Especially, if you want to try Dior makeup but your purse cries to pay a fortune for the full size items.
Not to mention it's compact, everything packed together for travelling.

Again, thank you so much Birkie! <3

Christian Dior Diorshow mascara

Today's victim is Diorshow mascara. Yes, the much raved Holy Grail mascara. Is it THAT good to be THE MASCARA?

You might not know, but what I want from a mascara is volume, volume, volume! (so that my lashes are visible) And power to keep my curl. I don't care about length, I have some. Also, I don't care about mascaras that give an "everyday look". That's like not wearing anything. The point of mascara is to emphasize the lashes, right? (Given, I don't understand why would anyone want a brown mascara either) o_O"

I read many-many reviews of this "gem". Some would sell her soul to own this for the rest of her life, some said it gives spidery lashes, clumps, etc. For those who caw about clumping....please, don't be a blind, blond dumbass and remove the excess material from the wand/bristles!!!!!! But not with a tissue! @_@ (some does it!) Use the hole of the tube, from the inside (when you pull it off), so you can avoid dried mascara pilig up and resulting in the entire tube being dry! Is it that hard????
This way you will not cry when your pricey Diorshow is useless after one month of daily usage.
I've been using mine for 1,5-2 months and it did not dried out nor did it clumped.

Before, I used Max Factor Falsh Lash Effect and Masterpiece Max. Those are the best among drugstore brands, but they smeared on me. Plus, I thought Diorshow would give me the real falsh lash effect I desired for so long. Thus I scored one on ebay (it's still cheaper than buying one for $48 at the counters - with today's rates it'd be $53 *cough*).

I did a comparing test to show before-after pics:

Sorry for the messy application, was lazy to remove the minimal excess, I need a lash brush =D
It's nothing superb, right?

Ah, yes, if you were curious, that ugly yellowy stuff under my eye on the left pic is the concealer (MAC!!!!), Settles in my fine lines in 2 minutes! I'll review it soon. You won't like it! >=DDDDD
I tried to catch the same angle and lightning, but with not much success. Anyhow, I think they are good enough photos for comparison.

Here is the claim: DiorShow Mascara is Dior's original, must-have mascara that delivers ultra-glam, catwalk-length lashes. Makeup artists all over the world use this product to create the longest, thickest, curviest lashes ever.

Here is a shot with open eye from in front:

I chose my right eye to present, since it has lashes that are more fan-like and have some curl. The lashes on my left eye are more straight @_@
See? It's nothing spectacular! To tell the truth, Max Factor looks the same!!! Sorry for compaing it to MF, it pulled out of the US, but that's the only brand what I used for years before, and it's quite good!^^
If you click on the above photo you'll see a faded waterline and some black points underneath....guess what it is?
Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes!!!! XDDDDDD Greeeeeaaaaaaaaate!~~~~

Let's analyze!

  • "longest" lashes - as seen before, it kinda covers lashes to the tips, although i've seen better results >_>

  • "thickest" lashes - ahem...NOOOO......not the thickest. I've seen better! >_>

  • "curviest" lashes - DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH!!!! This does not hold a curve! My lashes are like my hair: dislike to be curled, they never, ever hold a curve! Even if I use my shu uemura curler (heated or not, you decide) once the mascara is on...hussh....no more curve T_T You say Diorshow Iconic is good for that? Yes, the counters here do not carry it, and I'm not crazy to spend 30-somethig bucks for a mascara that might be plain crap!

Overall, this is good every-day mascara for me! Does not flake or run, fade or bend by time. (it does smears a bit on the outer corners of my eyes on windy or cold days, or whenever my eyes get teary. I have super watery eyes #_#). If I happen to purchase it for the low price I did the first time, I'm sooo goona buy it! Just for the brush, precise application and decent volumizing it owns me.

For the ultimate, falsie-like lashes I have a better mascara, that is waterproof and does hold a curl!!! Hell, it does!!! Yes, I found it, and love it, and it's a secret!
I'll reveal it (hopefully) soon! Any guess what might be it?

Dior 1 Couleur Powder Mono Eyeshadow & package from Jacqueline

Christian Dior 1 Couleur Powder Mono Eyeshadow. Before reading on, make note that the eyeshadow I'm reviewing is not the latest one! Beat me, but I can't remember what year this was released! This is a very big favourite of mine, that's why I'm writing this. Whether you want to read about old stuffs or not! LOL I'm evil and egoistic, I know!
I Couleur is in the shade of: Peach! Wait, I have a story!
Many years ago I was watching TV...some fashion channel, showing new makeups and tricks. It must have been my late elementary years. And then, at that holy moment I saw a beautiful eyeshadow! It was a TRUE peachy peach, with a hint of baby pink! *__*
I can't really describe, but the color payoff was strong, and it was soooooooooo beautiful and vibrant! I fell in love instantly! The worst part is I have NO idea what brand it was! *cries*

So, ever since then I've been in an endless search for that color. And this eyeshadow is the closest I could find.....although this is no match, truth to be told, thid doesn't even look like peach on skin, but I love it nevertheless!
As I've seen, this shade is discontinued. I'm not sure, but I couldn't find it on the Dior site. Bah....must be my stupidity too!
Anyway, here are my thoughts:
Old, as you can see, packaging is old but pretty. Can't be anything less, since it's Dior =D
The color is somewhere between orange, beige and peach, also has golden shimmers. It goes on smoothly, covers skin evenly and does not crease or fade. Oh, wait, it did crease on me in the summer heat, but when the weather is not that humid, it stays on pretty well.
Just a side note: I do not wear primer. So if you do, I bet this would stick to you like glue all day long!

Here is a swatch. Can you see it? It's in the middle. Forgive my crappy photo skills, I couldn't capture the color. It's much, much more vivid! Also, the lighting is horrible here (in my dorm room).

For slightly better view here is a look I made using this eyeshadow not long ago.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

I got a package from Jacqueline Yesterday, including all these yummies:

2 MAC Lipglasses
1 MAC Lustreglass
1 Maquillage lipgloss + 1 lipstick
The Body Shop Eyeshadow (an awesome blue!)
YSL Matt Touch Compact Foundation sample
RMK samples
Vichy Normaderm Refine sample (hey, this is Asia exclusive, I think, so must work for my pores too HAHA)
Kiehl's Abyssine Cream+ sample (I've always wanted to try this)
Aren't they awesome??!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?
I can't say enough, you shouldn't have had to put in sooo many (precious) extras! You're too generous! I LOVE you! *.* Thank you!
Jacqueline is such an awesome woman!!! She needs more love, so check out her blog!

Here is another pic, to show better the colors >.<"

Why, oh why are some of my pictures are clickable, and some are not????? I did not resize them, or anything! grrrrrr

Sephora specials

Harajuku G Gift Set ($57 Value) $50

Never one to get lost in the crowd, G leads her crew in a white, corseted top and a blue miniskirt á la Alice in Wonderland. Quirky, unique, and undeniably cool, G is the leader of the pack. Her scent is an oriental, fruity, gourmand fragrance with notes of fresh coconut, jasmine, and cotton woods.

Notes:Mandarin, Coconut, Apple Skin, Jasmine Sambac, Freesia, Magnolia, Coconut Cream, White Sandalwood, Cottonwoods.

Hmmm I'm not a fan of sweet fragrances, especially fruity and jasmineones, but this sounds sooo nice! And the packaging! This little set has a 1.0 oz Eau de Toilette Spray and an 0.04 oz Solid Perfume and considering usually a 1.0 oz bottle costs $45 I think this is a great deal!

Collecting all the Harajuku Lovers girls would be awesome, but to pay the whole price for each 5 figurine.....rather stick to the smaller ones which costs only 15 bucks.

OR

Choose the Solid Coffret which is only $65 and consist all 5 fragrances (I bet in smaller sizes) and comes with a HL black canvas tote!!! I'm such a sucker for freebies!

Dior Bronze Lumières D'or Face And Lip Palette ($45)

Inside this sleek compact is a large two-toned pan of gold and bronze pressed powder and a honey gold lip gloss. One side of the bronzer provides a natural, healthy-looking tan, while the other contains a golden shimmer that adds a touch of luminosity. Use them separately for a customized look, or swirl them together for the perfect sun-kissed complexion. Finish your sun-kissed look with the honey gold lip gloss—perfect for getting your glow on the go!

Okay, now I'm in officially in love! Just how mouthwatering this palette is?!?! To use I should tan a lot more, but who cares? I'd buy it only for the case! *_* It reminds me of my treasure powder I got from my Mom.....it was hers before I was born and it's still in perfect condition!!!! o_O No smell or weird touch it's like a brand new pressed powder! Plus, it works better on my skin than any other product. To the point why I brought this up, It has a case that's like amber. And this Dior palette looks like that. >___<

I'm sure I wouldn't use the lip gloss. Somehow these get-your-tanned-glow-pop glosses look horrible on me, whether I'm chocolate brown or not. The bronzers are total love! Such shimmery beauties. For my current budget $45 is a bit steep for a bronzer, but it's Dior and pretty and so lovely that I don't care anymore ~~~~
